Innovating STEM Education to Advance Africa’s Circular Development

Innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (I-STEM) Education Program for Circular Practice is designed to modernise Africa's education systems by embedding circular economy principles into STEM curricula. By providing learners with practical, interdisciplinary skills, the program addresses critical skills gaps, fosters innovation, promotes sustainable industries, and leverages Africa's youthful population to drive inclusive growth.

Objectives

I-STEM aims to:

Enhance teaching methodologies by training educators and module convenors on I-STEM for circular practice.

Facilitate knowledge exchange between STEM trainers in Africa and their counterparts in the diaspora.

Support the development and integration of a curriculum or module on I-STEM for circular practice in higher learning and TVET institutions.

Support the domestication of STEM education aspects from STISA and the Continental TVET Strategy at the member state level.
