Pan African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET and Skills Development Systems in Africa

1. What is the Pan African Initiative Transformation of TVET and Skills Development Systems in Africa?

The Fourth Industrial Revolution ushered in a new era of economic disruption with uncertain socio-economic consequences for Africa. Therefore, Africa needs to embrace the digitization of TVET so that future generations in the continent can benefit from the long-term implications in the ‘new learning space’. As a step towards embracing this new reality, UNESCO, The African Union, The African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the African Union Development Agency of the New Partnership for African Development (AUDA-NEPAD) have partnered to implement this new initiative which ensures the digital transformation of TVET and Skills development.
