Topic: How the Domestic Workers Sector Skills Council Actively Contributed to the Formalization of the Domestic Workers Sector
Professor Gupta presented the work of the Home Management and Caregivers Sector Skill Council (HMCGSSC) in India. The HMCGSSC plays a crucial role in developing and implementing skill development programs for domestic workers, promoting their professionalization and formalization.
She shared the HMCGSSC’s key initiatives, including industry-based skill development programs, national certification and accreditation, apprenticeships, technology integration and mobilization, career counselling, and placement assistance.
She also discussed the challenges encountered in this process, such as limited access to training opportunities, ensuring the quality of training, technology integration, and adapting to diverse client needs.
