The Corona Virus has spread quite extensively in South Africa, as a result, much misinformation about it exists and it is causing a number of socio-economic challenges. In response to this, Funzi, a mobile learning service, has together with Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator created an e-learning course, “COVID-19: Adapt and thrive”. This course is aimed at providing valid and clear information to understand and successfully navigate the coronavirus situation and minimise the spread of the virus.
NairoBits Trust is an organisation based in Kenya, it introduces young people from low income, marginalised communities to the world of Information and Communication Technology.
Kenya recorded its first case of COVID in March 2020, thus heralding closure for all training institutions including CAP Youth Empowerment Institute.
Hundreds of thousands of students graduate each year from the over 600 universities in Africa. This notwithstanding, there is a conundrum – with many employers lamenting glaring skills gaps on one hand, and persistent youth unemployment on the other. The mismatch between skills training and job-requirements in-part explains why about 10 million African graduates have still not found jobs.
The “Gender Makes Business Sense (GmBS)” is a Capacity Development Support programme for public and private entrepreneurship and vocational training providers in the agricultural sector. Included in GmBS is an agribusiness development training programme for agripreneurs which is being rolled out by the Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training for Women (ATVET4W) project led by the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) and supported by GIZ in six countries.
